Benchmarking disk/OS performance: (This doesn't make complete sense; I got it off usenet and thought it might be useful.) The results of >hdparm -tT /dev/hda are very nice for transfer to and from the buffer, but pants for the -t bit about 3.7 meg/s-1 mean value.
